General
Rentr is a Zambian rental property platform available as a mobile app and web app. It connects renters looking for homes with verified property Agents and Landlords who list their available properties. The platform is designed specifically for the Zambian market, with a focus on accessibility for low to middle-income earners.
Yes. Downloading and using the Rentr app as a renter is completely free. You can browse listings, search properties, and save books at no cost. However to unlock a property details such as the location, features, pictures and phone number of the landlord or agent, you would will be required to pay through mobile money within the app. You only pay once for each property and your paid views are accessible for 14 days within the app.
Rentr is currently active in Lusaka, Ndola, Kitwe, Livingstone, Kabwe, Chipata, Solwezi, and Kasama. We are expanding to additional cities. If you don't see your city, contact us agent applications from any location in Zambia are welcome.
The full Rentr experience is on the mobile app, available for Android on Google Play. An iOS version is in development. Some features are also accessible via the web platform at rentrzm.app, though the app gives you the best experience including notifications, messaging, and saved searches.
For Renters
Download the app, create a free account, then use the search and filter tools to browse listings. You can filter by city, neighbourhood, price range, number of bedrooms, and property type. Tap any listing pay K10 and unlock full details, photos, and agent/landlord's contact information.
From any listing detail page, you can message the agent/landlord directly using the in-app chat, or call or WhatsApp them using the phone number provided. All communication is kept inside the app so your enquiries are tracked and the agent/landlord can't be missed.
Rentr verifies all Agents and Landlords before approving them to list. Listings are reviewed for accuracy, and Agents and Landlords must upload real photos of the actual property. If you encounter a listing that appears inaccurate or fraudulent, use the in-app report button and our team will investigate within 4-12 hours.
Yes. Tap the heart icon on any listing to save it to your favourites. You can review and compare paid and saved listings from the Bookmarks tab at any time. You can also share saved listings with a partner or family member via a direct link.
Agents and Landlords are required to update their listings when a property is rented. If a listing appears active but the agent tells you it's gone, please report it using the in-app flag so we can prompt the agent to update it. We're working on automated checks to reduce this issue.
For Agents and Landlords
Download and create an account, you can then convert your account to an agent/landlord by filling in the required details. You can instantly start uploading your listing, to get access to your earning and other tools, you need to get varified. Visit the in app verification page and upload your required documents, and our team will get back to you within 24-48 hours.
You can list as many properties as you want, but we encourage you to keep your listings accurate and up to date. Remove and suspend unavailable properties immediately to avoid enquiries from renters and app terms violation. Voilation of these rules will result in suspension of your account.
from your dashboard, you view your earnings and withdrawal, you can also view rating and reviews from renters. You will also be able to view reports and messages left by renters, you are encouraged to ensure you keep reports at a minimum by ensuring your listings are accurate and up to date and respond promptly to messages.
Yes. From your agent dashboard, you can pause a listing (it becomes invisible to renters but stays saved), mark it as rented, or delete it entirely. Paused listings can be reactivated at any time without re-uploading all the details.
Every listing gets a unique shareable link called a deep link. When you share this link via WhatsApp, SMS, or social media, it opens the app directly to that property inside the Rentr app. If the recipient doesn't have the app, they're directed to the Play Store to download.
Safety & Trust
All Agents and Landlords go through a manual verification process before being approved. This includes identity checks, contact verification, and a review of their property portfolio. Agents and Landlords who receive repeated complaints or negative reports are investigated and may be removed from the platform.
Report the listing or agent immediately using the report button inside the app. Do not send any money or personal documents to an agent before you have physically viewed the property. Rentr Agents and Landlords should never request payment from you before you view or inspect a property
Check the details thoroughly including the description and map location, check images, they should be consistent and show details that match the description. Check for any reported issues and read the reviews left by others who might have seen the property
Yes. We take data privacy seriously. Your personal data is stored securely and is never sold to third parties. For full details, read our Privacy Policy.
Technical
The Rentr app is currently available on Android devices running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and above. An iOS version is in development. For the best experience, ensure your app is updated to the latest version from the Google Play Store.
Try the following: ensure you're using the correct email address, check your internet connection, and try the "Forgot Password" option on the login screen. If you continue having issues, contact us via our Contact page and our support team will help you within 24 hours.
Go to the Profile section in the app, then tap Settings or Edit Profile. From there you can update your name, contact details, and password. You can also delete your account within the app
